Kim Cox, Director of Operations
Kim first joined the AFTA team in April 1997 as Executive Assistant to then Administrative Director, Barbro Miles. Her administrative work included the accounting, budget, annual conferences, publications, and web site. The AFTA Central Office was located in Washington, DC. Ten years later, Kim moved to Massachusetts, where she continued working part-time for AFTA, until she was approached by the leadership in late 2012 about returning as the full-time Managing Director (and moved the office to MA). About two years later, she welcomed Kevin George, Executive Director, and they were a productive team for a year and a half until his position was removed from the organization due to restructuring. A graduate of High Point College and The George Washington University and a native of Virginia, Kim now lives in Haverhill, MA with her wife of six years, Kate, and their eight-year-old dog Nippy.
Kim is very proud of her work at AFTA and has enjoyed taking part in the evolution of AFTA as an organization. She is honored to support the great work that AFTA members have done, are doing, and continue to do. Kim shares AFTA's passion of helping individuals, families, and communities in the world.
